Kelley Stelling Contemporary is honored to present “James Aponovich: OUT OF THE STUDIO, Recent Drawings and Paintings”, a solo exhibition of new work by world renowned artist James Aponovich. A lifelong resident of New Hampshire with an international following, Mr. Aponovich has chosen Kelley Stelling Contemporary for his first exhibition in almost 15 years in the state. The show will feature his lush and bountiful still lifes and exuberant landscapes, along with a new series of allegorical portraits exploring darker themes of mortality. Exhibition dates are June 6th, 2019 through June 28th, 2019. A Reception for the artist will be held on June 6th from 5:30-7:30pm.

James Aponovich, a lifelong resident of New Hampshire, began his career as a portraitist and figure painter. Since the early 1980s he has focused primarily creating still-lifes, which are notable for their idealized rendering of objects and landscape backdrops. Aponovich graduated from the University of New Hampshire at Durham in the late ‘60s and immediate success exhibiting regularly in galleries in New York and in museums throughout the United States. Examples of Aponovich’s work may be seen in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Portland (Maine) Museum of Art, the DeCordova Museum, the New Britain Museum of American Art; the Currier museum of art; among others.
